Creggenan Lakes
Cregennan Lakes are in the south of the Snowdonia National Park, overlooking the Mawddach estuary. At Cregennan, there are splendid walks amidst hill farms and upland lakes, with fine views towards Cadair Idris and over Cardigan Bay. There are also some fantastic views of the Mawdach estuary. This area is rich in standing stones and ancient site. Creggenan lakes are about 30 minutes away by car, reached via Dolgellau, and the journey itself is scenic, running under the slopes of the formidable Cadair Idris mountain range. For the return journey, rather than retracing your steps, we recommnend you carry on past the lakes and descend down into Arthog. You will be rewarded with some spectacular views of Barmouth and the Mawdach estuary and from here you can easily pick up the Mawdach trail. |
