Our residential training programmes offer something for the novice photographer picking up a camera for the first time through to the experienced film photographer wishing to take their first steps into the digital world. Company Profile
LearnPhotography.co.uk is based near to Trawsfynydd, in the heart of the spectacular Snowdonia National Park. We provide comprehensive training in digital photography, covering areas such as general photography techniques through to advanced digital darkroom techniques using the latest Adobe digital editing software, either Photoshop CS/4 or Photoshop Elements 7 (or earlier versions). We are also now able to offer training using the Adobe Lightroom product. This training is provided on a residential basis and you will be able to use one of our Log Cabins during your stay. Our courses are led by Ray Hall, a full-time freelance photographer. Uniquely all of our courses are offered on a one to one basis. Students can clearly benefit from the dedicated attention of the tutor and courses can be tailored to suit each students needs.Courses are very much hands-on and are very practical based. Courses are designed to enable you to get the most from your camera and your own creativity. Based on solid practical experience, rather than textbook theory, we do not spend hours explaining each and every function of Adobe Photoshop, rather we focus on those functions that are useful to the photographer and then reinforce these with practical exercises. We especially cater for "beginners". Whether you are new to the exciting world of digital photography, "converting" from traditional film photography or just getting to grips with a computer, we can tailor a course that will help you to get the most from your camera. Many people feel inhibited and unable to develop their digital photography skills because they are new to computing and, have not had the opportunity to develop their basic computer skills. Many of the public courses that focus on photo editing products like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements expect a basic knowledge of computing. Recognising this, we have a computer skills module which is designed to equip the novice computer user with the basic knowledge, skills and more importantly, the confidence to then enjoy our other digital photography courses.
If you already own a digital camera we encourage you to bring this along to our workshops, as there will be a number of practical exercises and you can make use of our "camera surgery".
If you haven't already bought a digital camera, the workshops provide a great opportunity to understand the important features you should look for in a digital camera. We will even provide you with a comprehensive checklist that you can use when you shop for your camera. You can hire a digital camera from us, for the duration of your stay, to use in the workshop exercises.
